St. George's Day Parade 2018
This year’s annual District St George’s Day Parade will take place on Sunday 22nd April 2018 and we expect ALL beavers, cubs and scouts from 1st Corbets Tey to attend this parade. It is the only time of the year where your son/daughter will have the chance to renew their promise along with every other beaver, cub & scout in Hornchurch District.
We shall meet in the front car park of Havering Sixth Form College, Wingletye Lane, Hornchurch between 09.30-09.45am, for a 10.00am march off. Please do not arrive before 9.30am. Parents cannot park in the college car park so need to park in an adjoining road but please be considerate of local residents.
We will then march down to Emerson Park School, Wych Elm Road for the service. The service should finish by noon, and children will need to be collected from Emerson Park School, (past the college, over the bridge, 4th road on the right, opposite Parkstone Ave). You will not be able to park in the school so you will need to either park in Wych Elm road or the road opposite (Parkstone Ave.), please take this into consideration when leaving to collect your child.
Full uniform is to be worn: Blue shirts (scouts) /Sweatshirt (cubs & beavers), navy activity trousers or shorts if warm enough. If these are not owned then dark grey/black/navy school trousers/shorts/skirt (NO JEANS), scarf, woggle, and black shoes or black trainers. Please ensure that uniform is clean and scarves are ironed and that any badges your son/daughter has gained are sewn on as this is our chance to impress other groups! As it will hopefully be a lovely day no coats are to be worn unless necessary, it is only a short walk down the road.
There will be a collection held for a children’s charity; therefore if you could provide your son/daughter with a small donation we would be grateful.
If it is raining heavily when you arrive at the sixth form college and the marshal informs you the parade is cancelled please drive your child to Emerson Park School, where we will meet you.
Look forward to seeing you all there!
Yours in Scouting,
Allyson Cheung
